About Me
Understanding Hotel Amenities

I have never been someone who is especially fussy, but about three years ago, I was assigned to work from satellite offices all across the country. I knew that I would be traveling almost nonstop, so I decided to work really hard to understand hotel amenities so that I could be comfortable. I started researching different hotels and I was eventually able to find a great deal on a five star hotel in a place that I visited frequently. It was incredible to see how much of a difference staying in a nice hotel actually made. I found myself surrounded by luxury, and it was amazing. The ability to travel is something that is on many people's wishlist. Unfortunately, finding room in your budget for a vacation is not always a simple task. Thankfully, it is possible to travel cheaply once you learn how to start saving money on your hotel accommodations. The five tips outlined below can help you to do just that.

Tip #1: Book Your Hotel Using A Cash Rewards Credit Card

Most hotels will require you to use a credit card at check-in, so why not use this requirement to your advantage by choosing to use a credit card that offers cashback rewards. If you have multiple cards that offer rewards for purchases, be sure to take a moment to review the terms of each card. Some cards will offer a larger percentage of cash back when your purchases fall into certain categories, such as travel expenses. Select the card that will ultimately give you the greatest amount of rewards in order to maximize your savings.

Tip #2: Choose To Travel During The Off-Season

Hotel prices fluctuate not only from season to season but often from day to day because these rates are based on supply and demand. The higher the demand for rooms, the more you are going to pay for a hotel room. Choosing to travel during the off-season will allow you to enjoy the lowest possible rates. As a bonus, traveling during the off-season will also allow you to enjoy smaller crowds at any of the local attractions you wish to visit.

Tip #3: Don't Book Too Early

Just as traveling during the off-season can allow you to take advantage of lower demand pricing, so can choosing to book your hotel at the last minute. When hotels have a lot of empty rooms left, they will often drop the price of these rooms at the last minute in order to try and get closer to maximum capacity. After all, an empty hotel is not a profitable one.

Tip #4: Stay Off The Beaten Path

While choosing a hotel that is located close to the airport or a popular attraction can be very convenient, it can also be rather pricey. Choosing to stay at a hotel that is located even a few miles further away from these popular destinations can save you a ton of cash. The smaller crowds at these out-of-the-way hotels can also make it easier to enjoy any of the amenities that the hotel has to offer, such as a swimming pool or on-site workout facilities.

Tip #5: Choose A Hotel With Free Breakfast

While this tip will not directly save you money on your hotel room itself, it is a great way to cut down on your overall travel costs. By simply choosing a hotel that offers a free breakfast each day you will be able to reduce your food budget. When traveling with a group, this can easily equate to a savings of a few hundred dollars over the course of your vacation.
